Welcome to WildStar, new players! Here’s a quick overview to get you oriented to our community! If you are a returning player, there’s a section just for you at the very end of this article.
Which server has all the roleplayers?
You’ll find us either on the North American (NA) PVE megaserver “Entity”, or European (EU) PVE megaserver “Jabbit”. There is no dedicated RP server anymore, but harassment by non-RPers has been very rare, so don’t worry about it!
How do I find other roleplayers on my server?
The first thing to do is to join the global out-of-character RP chat channel for your server. If you are on Entity, issue the slash command /chjoin WSRP. If you are on Jabbit, do /chjoin LFRP instead. The chat channel exists on both factions, but is not shared.
Once you are in the global OOC channel, you can ask people about the state of RP. It’s an unmoderated channel that sometimes gets very busy, but if you say “Hi, I’m new! Can someone help me with some questions?” you should find people to help you out! If not, just try again later.
What are some specific RP hotspots, guilds, and organizations that I can see right away?
Is there anything special about WildStar RP I should know?
RPers in WildStar make extensive use of the fantastic player housing system, which your characters gain access to at level 14 after you visit the Protostar Housing Initiative in your capital city. Because the player housing system is so good, there’s a tendency for the RP to happen there as well. Open world RP still happens, but a lot of things happen in Housing. A lot of housing is public. Try visiting a few house plots using the social interface! (key O).
While there are RP guilds in WildStar, we also have a social groups called circles. A circle can have up to 100 members with ranks and a chat channel, but it does not have traditional guild perks such as shared banking. The cool part is that you can belong to a guild AND up to 5 circles at the same time. Circles are used to create arbitrary groups with similar interests, and you can choose to have the circle name displayed as your organization nameplate. You’ll see a few RP-related circles as you wander through Nexus.
How do I learn about WildStar lore that’s relevant to my character?
This site, wildstar-roleplay.com, has quite a lot of the collective community wisdom from even before WildStar launched. We also host character sheets, event listings, forum roleplay, artwork, and information that is of interest to the roleplayer. Our chat room is also pretty active, so drop in anytime and see what is going on!
There is an active WildStar community on Tumblr too!
