In search of glory and redemption for her house's misdeeds, she seek her adventure on Nexus as a wandering Legionnaire. Now 1600AE will publish her tales with Ferg McJinti as artist. Issue 1 Written by: Ferg McJinti (from manuscripts of Gloria Petrides) Artist: Ferg McJinti Story: In the treacherous woods of Ellevar, a young red-haired warrior began to stroll along the woods with her sword drawn. She heard the tale of a vicious Dagun whose size is similar to that of two of its kin and terrorizing nearby logging camps. That beast was called Greyfang for both its powerful fang and its grey fur. This was a challenge for a young blood whose skill in battle was unmatched and seeks to test her skills. Not a usual routine as a soldier, but she wanted to help the new settlers of Nexus while in Ellevar. As she go deeper into the woods, her nerve held tighter as her grip on her sword. She did not see Greyfang but it is taunting her through its howls and movements. Then as she stops, the monstrous Dagun lunges towards her but the maiden of war managed to dodge its pounce and prepare for a deadly melee. The giant beast then lunges at the red-headed warrior and goes for her throat. But Gloria used her left fist to punch its face. It was barely a dent but gave the warrior enough time to kick Greyfang off her body. As both of them faces off, unusual happens when Gloria takes her first strike and Greyfang sprung at her in first opportunities. It managed to swipe her sword and bite on her arm while she was standing. Despite being in pain, Gloria began to quickly think of a plan to save herself. She then takes the giant Dagun and bash it on the rocks. In three strikes, the monster released its jaw grip on Gloria's arm with one of its eyes injured. In exchange, the beast managed to injure her arm to the point where she had to hold the blade with one hand. Seeing its advantage, Greyfang charges forward to finish her off. But Gloria was also cunning, which she used the little time she had to stand in front of thorny bush that was obscured by Greyfang's blinded eye. Her ruse was clever and Greyfang became tangled inside the vines and branches covered in sharp thorns, cutting its body and further making him vulnerable. Finally, Gloria slew the dagun with a single decapitation. As she came back to the local logging camp, she drops its corpses in front of the headman. Seeing the demise of Greyfang, the head of the logging camp rewarded her with a feast along with commendation to her commander.
Issue 2 Writer: Ferg McJinti (from manuscripts of Gloria Petrides) Artist: Ferg McJinti Story: After sleeping in her standard issue shelter, Gloria hear a distress call from nearby Radiant Legion, calling for nearby capable fighters of all backgrounds to replace their sickened members. She then grabbed her sword and met with a white armor clad officer, who is actually a Mechari even with her helmet on. She announced, in a stoic but echoed noise, "Attention, this is what you were called for". The displays appears on the tactical table, "a group of Mordesh has been spotted in the woods. We suspect that they may be responsibly for the contamination of local wildlife and water that has crippled our garrison here. You will be compensated if you find what they are doing there and eliminate them if possible". Lady Petrides's eyes showed fury and hatred to the Mordesh. She knew that there are those who have their sanity with help of their chemical-filled implants but nonetheless use their cunning wits and unforgiving personality to disrupt the Dominion who have blockaded their diseased planet to prevent its outbreak to other parts of galaxy. Unforgiving but necessary, she thought. She was a patriotic Dominion citizen, who wish to atone for the treachery of a member who destroyed her family. She will show no mercy to the Exiles and Nexus will be in the hands of the Dominion.
She and rest of her units went into the swamps, stealthily striding towards the location of the vile Grismarans. In quiet but rapid movements, they dispatched troublesome wildlife and a single unfortunate sentry. She remembered when a Draken pulled out her arm knife and plunge it into the Mordesh' glass face. Finally, they reached a small camp of Mordesh, all armed while few of them observing and handling equipments. She even had to wonder why they were here. Maybe a factory of chemical weapons to be struck on Dominion citizens, or chemicals for their implants to retain their wits. She does not hesistate, she knew that their polluted by products must be stopped no matter they were doing. Then she let out a cry "For the Dominion", and the group charged forward following the first barrages of their rifle soldiers and pistoliers opened up to aid their charge. In a sudden moment of ferocity at Gloria Petrides and her comrades' battle cry, the bullets and magical bolts came out of the foilages and struck down many of their members. In a brief moment of silence, the Mordesh chemists and soldiers saw a group of Warriors and Stalkers charging towards them but there was no time for defense. Gloria swung her mighty blade and decapitate a Mordesh who was too late to grab nearby pistol. One by one, the group slew the stunned Mordesh with their hearts impaled and screams given before their deaths. In a final moment of victory, she hear a gun shot from the back but a Draken took her place in the afterlife. Angered at the loss of her comrade, she ran up to the Mordesh leader who had remained as sole survivor until Petrides's sword ran through her head. As the blade was pulled out, Gloria began to look around the camp of the results: The Mordesh threat has been eliminated but one perished while saving her along with two members of the firing team who she did not saw their sacrifice in their ambush to stun the defenders.
(Well, talked with Erallia OCly and decided to retcon her involvement out of story) Issue 3 Written by: Ferg McJinti (from manuscripts of Gloria Petrides) Artist: Ferg McJinti Story: Time had passed in Ellevar a month after her first adventures here. She heard of storm brewed by angry Pells after a mad priest poisoned them, rumors coming from Eldan sites of their secret experiments, and the occasional Spider infestation nearby camps. As far as she knows, Nexus is full of life and secrets that were waiting to be revealed...either for good or evil. Right in bunk of a small inn at Lightreach Mission she thought about her adventures. She then woke up and paid her dues before heading to Vigilant Church. She remembered the funerals held for the fallen in hands of Mordesh last week. The mourning relatives were there and even she remembered the body of the Draken who saved her life shipped off to Draken settlement in Deradune out of respect for her people's culture. As she step upon her veloptirex, she went down the road towards the east to patrol villages near Lake Sterlings. Many lowborns have begun to settle there for either religious reasons, large pastures, or having seen scarcity of agricultural space along with a plague in Auroria. She began to ponder her current humble life beneath her station. An orchard of Petrides manor, which the once-proud family who produces Cider and juicy fruits. She remembered coming back from her home to see the Dominion authority announcing the absence of her father and death of her family. Years she remembered having to wander around the galaxy as one of few impoverished nobles. Then she realized that she felt more connection to Lowborns than she ever realized. Having treated with respect by the humble citizens who decided to work for the good of the Empire, who remained loyal inspire of their stations, and who was brunt of worst things that they experienced during the dark times of the Empire. Then she realize her own empathy based on her life, having shunned by Highborns due to her current life despite the blood of Luminais flowing in her veins. After her pondering, she travelled and greeted a passing Lowborn inhabitants along her path but their face showed worries. They told her of missing villagers after their visits near the lake. She hear their pleas and as the chosen of Scions, she would be responsible for their safeties but also with more true passions for that ideals.
Issue 4 Written by: Ferg McJinti (from manuscripts of Gloria Petrides) Artist: Ferg McJinti Story: For an hour, Gloria rode on her reptilian mount towards the last know area of the abducted villagers. With her fury and worry, she raced quickly towards a small farm house owned by Nigel the Oaf. Nigel's name may not indicate his intellect, but his rather uncouth mannerism as a Lowborn in agricultural background before he and many of his neighbors went missing for days after they ventured to Lake Larellan for fishing and irrigation surveys. As she investigated the abandoned settlement, Gloria the Maiden then hear something from the door that would later be opened by her. Then a small droid came out of the house and proceed to eject gas from its back. In quick instinct, she quickly run away before throwing her blade in a quick reaction that turned the small robot into idle hunk of metal. Then she gazed upon the designs: the yellow scaled designs of Ikthians that have been plague to Dominion when they arrived on Nexus. Treaty has been signed but the ruthless scaled bastards broke it and has been abducting settlers of Ellevar for their nefarious deeds. And quickly, she ran to the lake and found the villager that has been trapped in cages. Many of them were weak but not starving since Ikthians have been giving them foods in "survivable" amounts in order to keep them alive for live experimentation. Luckily, all of them are still alive and the Ikthians had only established a specimen labs about now. She then hid in the foilages to think of a plan to save the villagers. Reinforcements will be too long to save the villager but she can't charge headlong less she will be shot by Ikthians who is numbered by six. Then, Gloria began to find a solution before getting up five minutes later. She threw a pebble out of her before moving to another area. The soldiers, not falling to stoop by the rock, decided to fire at the original area that Gloria sighed in relief about her decision. As the two soldiers were sent to investigate their target, Gloria quickly got out and cut down two soldiers consecutively; slicing one before using her hidden knife to kill another. She then took the dead Ikthian's gun, which is ironically standard issue without any form of DNA securities despite their technology, which she would go into the structure with full gun blaze at four remaining Ikthians gathered in for help. Unfortunately, the gun swept and mowed down the surprised Ikthians along with many of their equipment. She then took the key cards and freed the prisoners. Knowing their weak status after being in captive, she helped all of them escort to their homes and help guard their settlement for a night. Then the dawn came and the Ikthians had took notice of her actions with plans for retaliation on Gloria.
Issue 5 Written by: Ferg McJinti (from manuscripts of Gloria Petrides) Artist: Ferg McJinti Story: It has been for a while since Gloria had rescued the captives from Ikthians. She later checked for any problems due to possible experimentation and being fed in minimal amount until their horrifying tests. As she walked outside for respite, she began to think about her new journey in morning. First, she slept in a spare bed offered by Nigel the Oaf since he was relieved to be saved by her. Then, he removed her armor and properly placed her blade before praying to the Scions for blessings upon her and the Lowborns in the village. But she did not rest easy since she wondered if the Ikthians will return again. In her sudden realization after an hour of sleep, she went out in full armaments and start a reconaissance until dawn. Then her fear were right, Ikthians were preparing to launch an attack on the village to recapture the prisoners and eliminate her. But it was sudden that neither evacuating the weakened villagers nor calling for reinforcement in sudden notice might be enough to save them. First, she called for reinforcement to the village from her communicator before heading out to delay the attackers. In spite of her sleep shortage, she began a silent strike at the positioned Ikthian retialiation forces. One by one, she dispatched guards and took out their critical equipments with only knife and sword. As the officer of Ikthian troops came to inspect, he began to notice the delays and disappeared soldiers. So the officer began to order a search around their positions and send a small force to attack the village. Gloria overheard them but did not know their language except for the direction of a squad heading towards the village. She then quickly moved out of her position to help the village until Gloria met the Ikthian officer. The two quickly battled eachother but Gloria's doom came when the officer quickly called for two soldiers to came to his aid. The Ikthian commander smiled and spoke to her in Cassian, “You are too late, Cassian. Your precious farmers and your life is at my hands. And you can't do anything now that I have you at my grasp.” Then suddenly a gun fire was heard and Ikthian officer turned around with sword lowered. In a moment of exposure, Gloria plunged her sword into the chest of the Ikthian and charged forward with the corpse as her shield. Then she saw her rescuers: The Lowborn farmers aided by two rifle armed Legionairres who came in time before the squad came into village and ambushed. Gloria smiled as the rescued Lowborns and Legionairres came to save her along with dispatching the Ikthian forces who began to flee with death of their officer. But this was not over since the units were seemingly too many to rout and hear commotions based on a small garble from the officer's communicator. Only word she understood was “Lake Sterling...Radiant Legion” backed by artillery fire and sounds of battle.
Issue 6 Written by: Ferg McJinti (from manuscripts of Gloria Petrides) Artist: Ferg McJinti Story: After Ikthian's retaliation on the Lowborn settlement was repulsed with aide of Gloria Petrides and her fellow Cassians, both the farmers and the two Legionairres, she received a message from the arriving reinforcement that ask her to meet the contigent at point near Lake Sterling for an offensive against Ikthian outpost after she had a rest, which she did not relent due to being tired from raiding into the Ikthian lines. For five hour she slept until she was woken by sounds of thunders stemming from storms brewing over Ellevar, which the region's current weather reflected the current conflict with Ikthians for response on raids and abductions upon the inhabitants that infringe the peace agreeement between the Dominion and Ikthians on Nexus. She then gather her equipments, don her armor, and left on her mount for the staging point for an offensive against the Ikthian.
It has been three hours since the sun had reached its highest point in the sky had it not been covered by clouds during the storm. The downpour upon the region had been troublesome for the Dominion soldiers since their equipments had been bogged down from muddy paths and preventative measures on ammunitions for the artillery and emplacements. It has been beneficial for Ikthians since they thrive on wet conditions and many of their technology are to be able to utilize in both land and water. Nevertheless, the offensive still manage to continue despite the difficulties of current conditions. The artillery barrage managed to halt the Ikthians' advance while the zeal of the Radiant soldiers managed to cut through every assaults. Then the commander briefed Gloria and many of her fellow soldiers on their objectives. Despite the seemingly long stalemate, the commander briefed to them that the Ikthians' line show sign of collapse and discovered a small opening that can be passed undetected with a small squad towards their headquarters. After briefings, the commander lead a group of Gloria and four of hardened fighters into the thinned area undetected. As they approached to the shore with a rowing boat, they disembark and made their way to headquarters that would have the leading elements crippled. This is where the team of infiltrating soldiers would meet an Ikthian commander but discovered that he had expected them to come and a large Ikthian Titan come out from below from a small compartment covered by weakened floor. The large fish-like titan managed to kill the commander quickly by tearing him in half before eliminating two of the fighters as it kicked to them. The squad began to falter but Gloria took charge to rally two of her comrades, who helped her disabled the ferocious Ikthian giant through attacking its limbs before its head was impaled by Gloria's blade. As it fell down, one of her comrade pulled out her grapple from her gaunt and plunger her blade to its abdomen as the line shortened and came into her reach. And after the death of their commander but with a price of three casualities, the battle for Lake Sterling begins its end with Dominion victory.
Issue 7 Written by: Ferg McJinti (from manuscripts of Gloria Petrides) Artist: Ferg McJinti Story: Months have passed since the Ikthians have driven out of Ellevar. Gloria Petrides have taken herselves a rest at the guestroom of her Lowborn companion in the city of Hycrest in Auroria for her new assignment. It has been a pleasant break from having fought for too many times in the Larellan and the Sterling lake. The walled city of Hycrest with the fine Dominion architecture and well-equipped guards has been the moment when she finally felt civilization once in her time on Nexus. That was before she began her patrol around the city a week later during the time of plague, where many farming communities outside of the wall has been closed off due to the disease spreading rapidly across the regions. Even with the cordon, there were still small pockets of infectees present in the secured areas of Hycrest. Gloria wish to seek and help the locked out communities to help its inhabitants but she had to obey the order on guarding the “uninfected” areas of Auroria region as a Legionairre of the Dominion. In addition, the loss of Hycrest to the plague would cause a fatal blow to the administration of the Dominion' food supplies along with its proximity as western access to Illium. The medical personnels and hazard team is present but they have been bogged down by trying to clean up slanks from basements and securing the entry into the safe zones from possible victims. This is where Gloria and few volunteers has to fill in the void for the quarantine on plagued animals due to her combat experience and the protective suits that were brought along during their adventure on Nexus. Although her task is repeititive and unbearing, she must do as ordered for the Dominion to maintain its food productions for their presence on Nexus.
In spite of the bleak situation in Hycrest, she found some heartwarming moments. As she was strolling along the path within the wall, Gloria hear scream of a child from a basement. The maiden then rushed down to the cellar where she find a young girl screaming in fear of plague-ridden Dagun who was cornering her and prepare to lunge. Gloria then rescued the girl by screaming at Dagun while also yelling at the scared child to run to safety. In a brief second, the girl made a dash to the cellar's stairs as the crazed hound was distracted. Gloria then lunged at the beast as the Dagun charged at the girl after its recovery from distraction, which the Maiden decapitate the charging monster with a single stroke of her blade. After the deed was done, Gloria took the stunned girl by her arms to the surface. She returned the girl to her parents and discovered that she has not been infected in Scion's blessing on the miracle. In the end, the child hug Gloria and said, “Thanks, me lady” in Lowborn accent. The brave and strong maiden hugs her back due to having experienced one of few joys in her life.
Issue 8 Written by: Ferg McJinti (from manuscripts of Gloria Petrides) Artist: Ferg McJinti Story: Gloria and the Lowborn family began to talk after their daughter was rescued from the plagued Dagun. They were actually one of the many refugees from Windfield Downs who were fortunate to be let in just before their village got hit by a plague, brought on by a stampede of crazed Oxians. However, the compensation of their loss was minimal and had to survive with other works that included their daughter's work as a scavengers. As a landless Highborn herself, Gloria understood their current woes and sought to resolve the issues. Petrides then travelled to the capitol on the provision of proper works and spare lands to the refugees, but she realized that the combination of workloads and the low priority on their issues would turn out a fruitless resolution after she was refused audience with the local authority. She then try to scout out any relatively safe and decent living space by herself. From one of the places she sought, she discovered a large cave that can hold enough population of Windfield Downs until they were able to return to their village. In addition, the nearby Freebots required help from sentients to repair and salvage machine parts along with nearby fertile plot where the refugees can plant their crops. As she discussed with the Freebots, she discovered that the cave is infested with Gronyx that need to be cleansed before the refugees were let in.
Gloria Petrides, lady of the lotst family Petrides and a soldier of the Dominion, she came into the cave with her famed gold hilted energy blade and her battle-hardened armor for assault on the Gronyx. She spotted three of them, unaware until they hear her clink of her armored boots. She poised her blade and charged at the first of the Gronyx. The first strike strike against the joints and fell down, which gave Gloria enough time to focus on two other Gronyx. She pulled out her grenades from her pouches and blasted away both of them. Both of them stunned from explosives, Gloria then chose the nearest one and bashed its body to tumble on the lying Gronyx. Unfortunately for Gloria, The last monster used its arm to knock her away to the cave wall. The crimsoned-haired war mistress lying battered and blood streams from her mouth began to wonder her demise until she remembered a young Lowborn girl, her name being Emily, which she remembered her fate she would have gotten had she was not there. “I must not fail the people of Windfield Downs“, she muttered and she went up and think of a plan before finishing the monster. She produced the last grenade from her pouch, pulled the pin, and throw it away at the monster's head. Using the timing, she strike her finishing blow right after it exploded at monster's face and produced stun last long enough to deliver it. In the next day, the villagers then traveled as per the signal given by Gloria, which she was seen exhausted and fell unconscious after a hard battle against the three Gronyx. Thus earning her deed as “savior of Windfield folks” among the populace who would create the small settlement of their own, which would later become a thriving community for both Cassians and local Freebots.
