Don't know why I never posted this on here.

http://www.curse.com/ws-addons/wildstar/227651-chatsplitter

Concept is to take the most basic but necessary functionality from Killroy and create a slimmed down version that includes:

Splitting of long messages (done)
Enhancement to allow splitting of whispers (done)
Colorization of incoming messages for emote/say/OOC (done)
Cross-faction translation (done)
Recombining long messages into one (done)
Ability to add color channels. (done)
Ability to lock channel visibility. (done)
To color channels, the syntax is /channel /setcolor (or /channel /clearcolor to go back to default)

Example: /2 /setcolor to choose a color for custom channel 2

To lock channel visibility on, the syntax is /channel /lock (or /channel /unlock to remove the lock)

Example: /2 /lock to force custom channel 2 to always turn on.

Note: This module is NOT compatible with Killroy.

Visual chat occlusion added.

/csocclusion (range) to turn it on, or /csocclusion 0 to turn it off

It doesn't actually block messages, just makes them dimmer when they are further away.

The dimming effect is neat but I think it would be better for a fall-off range. Part of why Killroy's range filter is popular is because in a moderately crowded setting (10+ people) the chatscroll can get epic. Right now if I'm on somebody's skyplot I can still see their messages even if I'm inside and they're outside.

Feedback noted! I've heard it both ways. Many of ChatSplitter's users actually strongly dislike the way Killroy removes messages outright.

However, I may add in a toggle option to actually filter messages out completely instead of dimming them.

Maybe the option to filter them in and out with a chat command? Or like, an alternate chat window? I'm not familiar enough with how the chat function works.

Yeah, if I add it in, it will be a toggle between the occlusion modes..

Many folks didn't realize that Killroy would actually muddle messages in range if at the extent of it, instead of just dropping them. It would sta... rem...ng...arts to simulate the sort of half hearing you get in a crowded room.

Yeah, I personally hate the complete loss of messages. I just need the messages in the scroll to be more obvious, so CS's version is perfect for me.

EDIT: this is actually the primary reason I avoid killroy other than the interface being a memory/process hog.

Because that Save-To-Log feature was being turned off randomly for some folks, I've updated ChatSplitter to allow a user to lock that feature 'on'. Note that sometimes the Carbine ChatLog UI may still show save-to-log as 'off' despite this, but it should still be saving regardless.

To toggle it, just do /cssavelock

(lock defaults to 'off')
